Nigeria Plc Development Bank (DBN) says it generated 3,192 jobs in 2019 in the economy’s Micro , Small and Medium Enterprises market.

This was disclosed by DBN Managing Director Tony Okpanachi in his speech at the DBN’s first virtual 3rd Annual General Meeting, which was held in Abuja recently.

According to Okpanachi, “to date, 3,192 jobs have been generated leading to a 10 per cent rise in income from MSMEs and a 6.8 per cent increase in the value of their land assets.”

He added that “52 per cent of loans disbursed in 2019 were for companies owned by young people and women. This is what we are seeking to foster economic empowerment and gender equality,

Okpanachi reiterated that over $100 billion was disbursed last year via the bank’s “27 Participating Financial Institutions (PFIs), cumulatively affecting over 100,000 MSMEs.”

While offering a scorecard on the activities of the bank and its contribution to the Nigerian economy, he said that the bank that operates through its Participating Financial Institutions (PFIs) has supported an increase in MSME revenue and assets.
