No man can stop me from returning as Edo State’s Governor – Governor Obaseki

Governor Godwin Obaseki expressed confidence on Wednesday May 27 that in the midst of the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress in Edo state, he will win a second term in office.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Obaseki noted that he is not a violent man but that no one will deter him from returning as the governor of Edo State.

He said
“I’m not a malicious human being. But I’m sure the way I came to power is the same way I’ll come back.

“God gave me strength. If he needs me back I’ll keep driving. No-one is able to stop me. Power originates from God

Commenting on the crisis which rocked the APC chapter of the Edo state, Obaseki said;

We’ve always been canvassing for peace. What are the problems in Edo, and what are the things that a democracy can not address. The preoccupation is to use people’s capital to build the state.

“This does not result in bloodshed. We won’t tolerate being cowed and intimidated because some people think they can bend rules and cut corners.

He was asked if he used Edo state’s resources to become governor,

“I have resource mates. I served behind the scene for eight years, until I became governor.

“And all those insinuations of using the money of someone … I became governor on the party’s platform and I am thankful for that.

Whether it’s overt or indirect (primary), it doesn’t matter; I’ll win.

This happened shortly before Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu emerged as the All Progressive Congress (APC) faction’s consensus nominee believed he was loyal to the party’s National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
