Manchester United Disagrees Loan Extension For Ighalo

Manchester United reportedly failed to come to an understanding with its parent team, Shanghai Shenhua, on a new loan contract for striker Odion Ighalo.

For days, both clubs had been in talks on a new loan deal for Nigeria International, which first signed back in January’s transfer window for Manchester United.

The 30-year-old will return to Shanghai Shenhua after his loan has been completed, according to The Sun, as United was unable to announce an extension until Sunday night ‘s current loan agreement expired.

Ighalo ‘s lawyer, Atta Aneke, first announced that both clubs had negotiated an extension of the loan until the end of January 2021, when the 30-year-old returned to Shanghai because of the restrictions of foreign players

Sportsmail believes that the loan fee for Ighalo was an problem for United, which may have been one of the obstacles as to why they struggled to reach an agreement to extend it.

Odion Ighalo who signed a short-term loan deal with Shanghai Shenhua back in January for Manchester United made a valuable contribution, scoring for the Premier League club four times in eight games.
